I tried copying the RHEL3's /usr/share/aclocal/pkg.m4 into my ~/local/automake-1.10/share/aclocal but unfortunately that old pkg.m4 file does not work with the automake 1.10. I've evilly copied the pkg.m4 from the RHEL4 box into ~/local/automake-1.10 /share/aclocal. ./boostrap and ./configure are run cleanly now. The build is in progress and looking good :) Thanks Jim!
