No, I agree completely. This was the motivation for moving them from where they used to live (as part of tests).
I am also saying that the sample source should be found somewhere like in $QPID_HOME/samples for an installation, and not as a tar.gz/zip file. Apache projects such as ActiveMQ, CXF do the same thing, and I think this will be very useful to the users. Having the demo as source files helps the user to go through the code, try some changes, compile, and see what happens.
Yes we could certainly bundle them as part of the client. I am not sure how many separate downloads we want to have, e.g. we almost certainly want a "qpid all" download that includes the broker, client, samples and docs. How many of these we want available as separate bundles I am not sure. RG
