Hi, I've had a quick look about and we'd don't have a lot of JIRAs that offer an easy entry point just at the moment.
This one http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-6 looks like it might offer an opportunity to get involved without requiring too much in depth knowledge of the product. Most of my background has been in the Java world. I've recently started learning python which I like as well. My C++ is way to old to be useful. My Java experience is mostly with webapps from frontend UI to backend databases.
