Ah, sorry - we reverted to assembly plugin 2.1 and thus have the maven fileMode bug that went along with that back. All - please note that the assembly files do not go happily back & forth from 2.1->2.2 of the assembly plugin. The 2.1 fileModes need to be octal (420/493) whereas the 2.2 fileModes need to be decimal (or the distribution fails validation of the 493 values).
