This sounds really interesting. Also, to take into account the partially connected nature of a mobile phone, a broker could run locally on the phone (how stripped down a broker can be made?), apps could talk to it over JMS and then an AMQP forwarder could relay it on.
AMQP forwarding has yet to be formalised in the AMQP WG, but its something we're getting too this year (with global addressing). Any work you do here, especially in a challenging environment like a phone, would be really useful input into that too. Goo luck!
