2.x and 3.x are very ancient.  I don't have any copies laying about 
to try, so I can't say if those very outdated versions behave as 
you say.

However, if you have any users still on 2.x or 3.x (or even 1.x), 
why not have them upgrade?  4.3 is available for free.  5.0 is in 
public beta (also free).
