Okay, I'm still pretty much a Linux newbie...

I've been having weird problems with qpopper apparently not starting up when I access
it from my local network.
Possibly/probably an inetd problem.

Workaround seemed to be to set it up with --enable-standalone. I did this.

I've even got it running... but only if I'm logged in as root.

I assume that I need to create a script to stick in /etc/rc.d/init.d to link to from
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d

Confession: I don't do shell scripts (and right now I don't have time to learn).

I've looked at other scripts in there, and it seems like they are using a howitzer for
a flyswatter simply to launch a program.

Is there another way of doing this? Or does anyone already have the script files
needed? The Snn prior to the program's name in
rc5.d is a bit elusive... I know the S is for start... but what's with the numbers?
I've glanced through the man pages for inittab, but
didn't see anything specific.

Thanks!
