Is it possible to use kill to kill qpopper, have it catch the signal and
actually put the temp drop file back into the mailbox? Reading the code,
there appears no way to send a signal that tells qpopper: "Trust me, this
user isn't coming back, just kill the process (assuming not server mode)
and put the mailbox back the way you found it.
I find I have to do a manual (or scripted) fix any time a user is trying to
suck down too large a mailbox and calls me. Or I have to wait for TCP and
POPPER to give up (see other message) and have it do the cleanup on a
normal shutdown.
