Don't laugh but I have been using ae. I usually log onto my machine as a normal user. When I have to modify a file as root I su to root and just have gotten into the habit of using ae since how my modifications are always of a simplistic nature in terms of word processing. No need for anything but just typing characters to adjust the text. ae suits that simple purpose :-). > You can also try using the sample config file, at least as a test. I don't see a sample config file on my machine. Maybe that is because I installed a pre-compiled package and one wasn't included. I guess this was kind of a lesson in the differences between going that route compared to downloading the source and compiling myself. I am trying to keep whatever I put on my machine in sync with Debian's package management database which makes future upgrades/updates easier. Programs that I compile myself the database has no knowledge of, therefore can not account for them. It helps to keep your system tidy and more manageable. > Make sure there is a newline at the end of the line. Randall, you hit the target! That was it. No new line at the end of the last one. WHEW!! That was a picky experience. I telnet to the Qpopper port now and it does see messages. Thanks so much Randall for your patience and help. Maybe I can call on you again if I have run into any more obstacles, huh? hoffy
