I prefer NOT to see attachments on a mailing list. The bulk of subscribers won't need to look at it, so it's a waste of bandwidth. Better to send it direct to those requesting it, or post it on a web or FTP site for download by those who want it. If it's a small text-only patch comparable to the size of mail headers, then just post it inline.
