You could use perdition (a POP an IMAP proxy) to redirect incoming
pop requests to the right box.  Perdition could run on every mailbox
machine instead of POP and IMAP and redirect users to the right
machine (with the real POP a IMAP sitting on a differnt port) or you
could have dedicated proxies.
