hi all,

im running qpopper 4.0.4 over xinetd on linux 2.4.18.
everything runs fine this far, the only "annoying" thing
is, that some users generate error messages, when checking their
pop box, and there is no new mail.
for example:
popper[]: user at 14x.25x.17x.2x (14x.25x.17x.2x): -ERR POP EOF or I/O Error
popper[]: Stats: user 0 0 0 0 14x.25x.17x.2x 14x.25x.17x.2x

i think this is because the users mail prog did not close the session
correctly. i can reproduce this error by "telnet"ing to port 110,
logging in, and right after the "+OK user has 0 visible messages"
message killing the telnet session.

is there a way to avoid this error messages?

i will try to figure out, what software the client uses...
...maybe its GFI MailEssentials...lets see...

i think, maybe qpopper behaves right, following RFCs etc., but
suppressing this "error" messages would be much more easier than
having the customers set up their clients proper, i think :|

thanx

MK
