I saw that tactic, but it was not working properly in 4.0.3. I
swear it wasn't working in 4.0.4, either, but I cannot re-create the
compile-time failure now.  Can someone send me or point me to the 4.0.3
tar.gz? I want to see what the problem was, since I can't see it in
4.0.4.

        My apologies for the comotion. If I can repeat this, I will
post again at that point.
