I have a load balanced system with a
NetApp on the backend for customer data storage with quotas enabled.
Currently we use dpop (part of the
smtp/pop package dmail (I hate it, btw)), but it does do 1 thing I really like.
It copies over the spool files as root and changes the ownership of the files to
the user pop'ing their email, so customers can still only get x megs of email,
but at least they can download that email when they reach their quota. Is there
any way in Qpopper to do this? I see there was a little discussion about this in
June of 2000, but nothing since (that I saw).
We are ready to switch to Qpopper
immediately except for this 1 major
issue.
1: We cannot turn off quotas on the
netapp
2: I do not have enough spare disks to
create a new volume with on the
NetApp.
3: I do not have another system to export
a file system from for an alternate
temp-drop-dir
4: I can make a temp-drop-dir local to
each mail server, but that adds a ton of complexity when troubleshooting a
customer's email issue (especially when you have a level 1 tech who needs to
deal with 5 mail servers). I would really prefer not to do
this.
Any thoughts or patches that add this
functionality?
