qpopper test suite

Is there a bench/test suite I can use to test modifications of qpopper 
for performance, stability, etc?

I am experimenting with tweaks, and I am looking for a good way to make 
sure I didn't break anything. I would also like to know if my tweaks 
help, or hamper performance. I noticed a 'test' directory in the current 
4.05 release, but couldn't find any associated documentation.

Perhaps someone can point me in the direction of a third party 
application that will do this? Has anyone tried the SPEC Mail2001 
benchmarks?

Is there a test suite to look for common security vulnerabilities, ie. 
buffer overflows?
