The original reason I edited the qmail source and modified it to reject this was that I suspected some bug with bounces being used to make a server 'spam' the return path. I did not dive into it too much, but I do remember seeing some very weird stuff going on.
It seems that since using qpsmtpd, i'm no longer rfc ignorant. I sent a
notification email to the nice people at the rfc-ignorant site, and hopefuly
i'll be off that list before long.
