Is SMTP AUTH an ESMTP extension? If so it might be nice to be able to make these things plugable.
Unless I am very much mistaken, I can add the protocol handling code to the core, but not deploy it unless someone enables a saslauth module (i.e. qpsmtpd won't advertise the capability unless you ask nicely). Does that make sense?
