I think the general direction we agreed to go earlier is to develop a configuration interface such that everyone can have what they want.
You can have your plugin per directory setup. I can have my .ini files. Someone else can have his database lookups. Since we won't be able to agree on a single method, we can all agree on supporting multiple methods. :) -R
