I know that Microsoft mail servers (used to?) consider certain 4xx errors
less temporary than others, to the point of instantly retrying them after
disconnection. We had to change the 4xx code that Sendmail gives out for
"mailbox full" to a different 4xx in order to lower the load on our MX's.
On the other hand, there is only one possible behavior for a 5xx error,
so it shouldn't make much difference save for confusion in possible
localized error messages in bounces.
