If you want to reduce that propagation time to a minimum, do the following: - Note the old ttl time of your MX RR. If you're using djbdns, the default value is 86400 secs (24 hours)
- Change that ttl time to 30 secs (5 minutes)
- Wait for the zone to be sent to your secondary servers. If they are BIND-based this could take a while.
- Wait for the amount to time noted in the first step.
- Change your MX RR and restore the old ttl value.
