Well my "home server" is an old Pentium 233 laptop with 80Mb of RAM running Gentoo, and a few copies of spamd are the biggest drain - qpsmtpd (and sshd etc.) take very little in comparison. And before anyone knocks the idea of old laptops, they're typically compact, quiet, often fan-free, they draw very little power (this one idles at 8 watts and peaks at 11) and they have a built-in UPS... On the init.d/rc issue, I'd welcome it as it would make writing an ebuild file for simple Gentoo installation much easier. -- Tim
