That's not a bug, it's a feature :-).
It is technically impossible to specify an IP address on the right side
of an MX record. You can of course write 4 dot-separated numbers there,
but it's still a fully qualified domain name and not an IP address. And
since no no numeric TLDs exist (at least not at the root servers I
know), that MX isn't resolvable.
(Some or even most MTAs may interpret a domain name consisting of 4
numeric parts as an IP address, but that's not required and IMHO not
even conforming).
