I already had a copy of the docuwiki source unpacked so I looked at the line which it was complaining about. I traced the problem back one step where there is a comment, which looks meaningful but I'd evidently need to dig much deeper into the internals of the app. The docuwiki code is nice enough but the PHP syntax is liable to make me go blind.
