I spoke a bit too soon. There's a strange problem that I don't understand (maybe my lack of Perl skills): the string that I return is truncated at the first newline. If I omit the newlines, I can set a very long Received header, but I can't break break it into multiple lines!
Is Perl doing something funny when passing multi-line strings as parameters or return values?
