IMO the smtp forward plugin should be rewritten to relay the
mail_from and rcpt_to parts of the transaction to the backend as
they are received. The queue hook would then handle only the data
phase with the backend. I did start on making such modifications,
but didn't have sufficient personal need to finish it.
This doesn't help to diagnose the reported problem, but that
problem may no longer exist after the reimplementation.
The big advantage of such rework is that recipient validation would
be done by the backend, and could be sanely handled by qpsmtpd.
I agree. If I find some tuits I'll work on this.
It might also be nice to have a non-delivery call-forward system for
RCPT TO checking.
