I spot the issue with the minimal example.
It looks like there is something broken in qscintilla in qmdi area -
see myqsciscintilla.h in the example. It's in an additional current
line marker handling.

This is app using qscintilla very intensively - almost all text
displaying widget is qsci inherited one. This behavior appears when
there are at least 2 qsci instances opened.
I thought it could be some parent widget issue, but it looks like
the parent widget is always set and it's valid. The top level parent
is QMdiArea.
Note that the artefacts are painted only around the "current line"
marker.
Confirmed on Linux and Macosx.
