Hi all

You may know about Gliffy (http://www.gliffy.com <http://www.gliffy.com/>
) for making diagrams of various sorts. I have also found another free
online app from flowcart.com (http://flowchart.com <http://flowchart.com/>
) .Take a look. This one has collaborative possibilities.

If you are an eq school, you can get a free lic for both project and visio
under the mea. The problem is that there is a bit of a convoluted process
involved. Read below:

All QLD state high schools (Possibly primary schools too, I'm not sure) now
have a full Developer level MSDN-AA subscription as part of the Microsoft
'IT Academy' program (Academic Alliance). However, it seems the details
weren't passed onto everyone, so below I've detailed how to get access to
it.

Your School's MSDN-AA subscription gives you access to a 'flood' of
Microsoft software (Including Windows 7) as well as the licenses in order to
use them. It is all covered under the MEA and all licences are able to be
distributed to Students and Staff. (If anyone is concerned below are the
relative licenses)

MSDN License:

Supplemental MSDN-AA License:
<http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/academic/bb250608.aspx>
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/academic/bb250608.aspx

There is more info when you have logged in, you can find out how each
product is licensed by clicking the 'Keys' tab next to the product. For
example, Windows 7 Professional has 500 Retail keys for distribution.

Your Principal/IT Hod should have recieved an email similar to the below:

Get a hold of this email (Which includes the Microsoft Order Number and
details) and forward it to:

cntus.msdn.au.au.en.syk.mnl.cs.t01.cus.00...@css.one.microsoft.com

Head it up with something like:

'Howdy,

Below is an email I recieved from my Principal regarding the Microsoft
Academy program which we are a part of. This was organised by the Queensland
Education department and apparently includes a full Developer MSDN-AA
subscription. We have not been forwarded the details neccessary to activate
and access the subscription, I was hoping someone might be able to help me
with this.

Thanks for your time,

You should recieve an email with the required details to access and activate
your subscription at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-au/subscriptions/dd364989.aspx. You will need
to attach the subscription to a Live/Hotmail account in order to logon, just
use your own or make one up for the school, no-one else should need to
access it, just download all the software you need. Most of the software is
in .ISO format, so you will need a Virtual Drive to access the installation
files for distribution, or just burn to DVD/CD.

You can get a basic Microsoft virtual drive program here (Works on XP):

http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/b/6/7b6abd84-7841-4978-96f5-bd58df0
2efa2/winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21.exe

You may want to talk to your IT HOD and staff about the plethora of software
availiable (For free!) to the school. Some examples of what we are utilising
here at Coombabah are:

Windows 7 Enterprise x86 or x64 (Only for educational and testing purposes
at home ofcourse...)
Windows 3.11 (I just wanted to check it out :-)

Microsoft Expression Studio 3 (Microsoft's ripoff of Adobe Creative Suite)

Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2

Visual Studio 2008 Pro

XNA Game studio

Exchange (Availiable, but we're not using it)

Microsoft Frontpage

Microsoft Project

And much more. But take note that Microsoft Office suites are not availiable
to us, something to do with the MEA and Microsoft not wanting to give Office
away in particular.

If you have any questions about how to use MSDN there is comprehensive
online support availiable at http://www.msdn.com <http://www.msdn.com/>
