Thanks for the advice guys. I know that I need support for 5.0, but I can't promise full coverage of the library, or ongoing support at this stage. But smart installer would be very convenient, so I will bear it in mind.

Hi Also, if anyone has an opinion on whether using such a "backported" version would mean difficulty in getting accepted to Ovi Store, please let me know. That depends precisely on a number of active 5.0 devices, developer has either to drop components for supporting old devices or drop old devices to use components. That was quite a hard choice for my last app BTW and we decided that 5.0 market is big enough to skip the not-yet-super-mature components and make our own. Next app will probably ignore the old devices in favor of increased productivity and standard look you get from standard components. Leon, ask Nokia store how big share share of old phones accesses the ovi store. In the public August stats I see that for some countries about half of the the top model list are S60 5.0 devices - http://info.publish.ovi.com/?p=1516&utm_medium=email&utm_source=peer360&utm_campaign=DeveloperNewsletterSeptember2011&utm_content=FinalversionofWindowsPhoneSDK71availablenow So the problem may be quite big. Public stats don't show the exact numbers though. Best regards, Artem. On Oct 10, 2011, at 5:24 PM, Ville M. Qt Components for Symbian is currently deployed through smart installer. Once you productize your work for S60 5.0, and commit to supporting it, I imagine you would agree with Nokia to get it deployable through the smart installer. If you flag it as coming from Accenture instead of you personally, you may have easier time with the process ;-). _______________________________________________ Qt-components mailing list Qt-components@qt.nokia.com<mailto:Qt-components@qt.nokia.com> http://lists.qt.nokia.com/mailman/listinfo/qt-components ________________________________ This message is for the designated recipient only and may contain privileged, proprietary, or otherwise private information.
