Hi,
that was not deliberately changed, it's indeed a regression. There's
already one report for that:
https://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTCREATORBUG-6052. Feel free to vote for
it.
In the meanwhile you can workaround this by escaping the function
hint popup, then the completion popup will work normally.
