Aside: I'm not trying to be a pain here; I'm trying to understand what's
happening well enough to help. I'd be content to use version control as a
workaround for the current issue, but then I hit the "mercurial not working
on windows" issue. I'm trying to chase that one down right now, and I'm
hitting a build issue in Qt Creator; I'll send a separate note about that.
