...and I did the same on Windows (Vista 64).

You're right, there is no official support of development for Symbian on 
Linux. André must have been ahead of the times... ;-)

Did you have a look at "Development of Qt for Symbian Based 
Applications" in Creator's help pages? You also find it online at:
