I have Microsoft Security Essentials. Of course it will add overhead, but shouldn't be too much. None of my projects are on the network, so I'm not sure why it's taking so long. When I start Qt Creator with the Windows performance monitor open, neither the CPU nor the disk is doing much of anything for about 5 seconds after I start Qt Creator. So it does seem to be waiting on the network, but I'm not sure why or how to solve it.
