What happens if you e.g. start Qt Demo from your compiled Qt version? Or 
Designer, or Assistant?
It very much seems like you encounter a more general Qt problem here, and it 
would probably be best to take that up on the qt-interest mailing list and/or 
the bugtracker (bugreports.qt.nokia.com) as a Qt issue.
