Hi, I have a similar problem on my Linux and MacOSX machines (Did not test it on Windows), just that I don't have to do it every time and its a "java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError" for me. The first time I noticed that error was when I created a new project in Eclipse getting the newest version of my jambi project from svn. The newer (but similar) version didnt work while my original working copy did. When I now delete the directorys mentioned by paul and start the new version it runs without problems but when I afterwards start my original one it crashes. Looks like the cache is used for other things beside webstart as well. If both are exactly the same there is no problem it seems.
