Yes, it was quite simple:
    public void paint(QPainter painter, QStyleOptionGraphicsItem option,
            QWidget widget) {
        option.setState(com.trolltech.qt.gui.QStyle.StateFlag.State_None);
        super.paint(painter, option, widget);
    }
