You can use Sqlite and you can use cppsqlite3 cpp wrapper http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/CppSQLite.aspx I do all the sync on the backend, send the db3 file to the PDA using http/ftp/webservices or https ftps
So what I have is an off site database replica, that gets sync once in a while as the end user initiate his sync process.
