Hi,
I tried to compile our application with Qt4.5rc1 (so far, I was using
Qt4.4.3). I'm working on Windows XP.
There is an important problem regarding translations : strings containing
accentuated characters are not translated anymore when running the
application.
Here are some details :
Our CPP files are simple text files, using the western europe charset (code
page 1252). The source language for strings to be translated is french,
thus containing accentuated characters.
When running the lupdate tool, I've noticed that the accentuated characters
are not anymore encoded the same. Here is a TS file generated with lupdate
v4.4.3 :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE TS><TS version="1.1" language="en">
<defaultcodec></defaultcodec>
<context>
<name>CalculZ</name>
<message>
<location filename="../../../systemexpert/CalculZ/CalculZ.cpp"
line="474"/>
<source>La valeur de la rigidité de l'outil calculée
théoriquement est différente
de la valeur définie manuellement.
Laquelle souhaitez-vous conserver ?</source>
<translation>The theoretical calculated tool rigidity value is
different
of manually defined value.
Which one do you want to keep ?</translation>
</message>
...
and here is the TS file I get when generated with lupdate v4.5.0rc1 :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE TS>
<TS version="2.0" language="en">
<context>
<name>CalculZ</name>
<message>
<location filename="../../../systemexpert/CalculZ/CalculZ.cpp"
line="474"/>
<source>La valeur de la rigidité de l'outil calculée
théoriquement est différente
de la valeur définie manuellement.
Laquelle souhaitez-vous conserver ?</source>
<translation>The theoretical calculated tool rigidity value is
different
of manually defined value.
Which one do you want to keep ?</translation>
</message>
As you can see, in the <source> of the TS v2.0, the accentuated characters
are not escaped anymore.
If I generate a QM file with lrelease from the above TS file and run my
application, all strings which contain accentuated characters in the source
text won't be displayed as translated (they are displayed in french), and
strings which don't contain accentuated characters in the source text will
be displayed translated.
If I run my application using the QM file generated with lrelease 4.4.3,
everything is working fine.
Is this a known bug ?
It is a very important problem for us, as our app should run in many
different languages.
Thanks,
Jérôme
