Well, the installer does a nice job of insuring everything is in the correct place. Frameworks, sample code, apps. When I build from source, and run qmake install, it all does to the single /usr/local directory. Then things have to be manually moved around. This is messy and error prone. I'd like to insure that all the files go to where they are needed. As I test on PPC & Intel, it also means doubling the work to try to get a clean install.

I understand the script could be messy. But I'm willing to live with that, and try and improve it.

Is there any way to get a copy of the script that builds the
installer for the Mac? Otherwise, how are we supposed to build &
install to the same locations as the bin package?

We aren't currently releasing the script at this time, if only for the
fact that it's not fit for public consumption. What exactly are you
trying to do?
