Hello again,
Still don't know what went wrong back then, but there is no problem on another
machine which has the following installed
- mingw32-gcc v. 3.4.5 (same as previously)
- mingw32-make v. 3.81 (same as previously)
- activestate perl v. 5.10.1 (different)
So if anyone is running into similar trouble, it _might_ pay off to try a
different version of activestate perl. ('_might_' because there's probably a
lot more differences between my setups.)
