The open source download page has a pretty good explanation (and even starts a default download for you :) - http://qt.nokia.com/downloads/mac-os-cpp . Also, I recommend taking a look at the documentation at http://doc.trolltech.com/4.6-snapshot/developing-on-mac.html .
