to me, modulo a quite complex api, qaim is pretty good..
and for simple use cases qml views are not that bad (their support of models 
is limited, but the view part is already way better, real widgets as delegates 
ftw)
only problem, they cover really really simple use cases (that could go for 
most mobile cases, not desktop for sure)

what would be needed would be different qml primitives that would handle cases 
like treeviews or tables, that would be used mostly for  desktop applications

primitives because is not completely impossible emulating a more complex case 
with just qml but is not that great, is almost possible emulating a table with 
repeaters as rows but is not quite "it"
