Hello again I'm inspired today
I'd like to propose that we mark QSettings as Done and move it to a separate
module, once the task I proposed in "System and global settings and platform
plugins" is complete.
If there are no global settings to use QSettings in, and there is no global
cache managed by Qt, Qt won't use QSettings.
The implementation we have is a bit sad: it's slow and it implements its own
INI file format. It's compatible with the base INI file format for Windows as
well as the Desktop file format specification (which KDE uses for its settings
too), but it doesn't support any extension. Nor are any of its extensions
supported by anyone else.
Once we have a replacement class for it, whcih is easier to use and more
performant (for example, implemented on top of dconf on Unix), I propose we
deprecate it.
