It is. But besides technicalities of the (open) development model the bigger issue I see is with gaps opening up. If external people and companies are faced with their favourite platform lagging behind too much (not compiling, not working at all) the motiviation to follow will be reduced dramatically. That's more of a psychological problem than a technical one. So Nokia has to be careful with pacing ahead and creating facts in a way that makes potential followers simple resignate.
