Nothing special X stars and exits. Not even an xterm loaded
Btw I had to change "exec $1" to "exec $2" in the xinitrc
In any case it works now.

The solution:
startx /usr/bin/qtile -- execute /usr/bin/qtile directly
startx qtile -- load .xinitrc with qtile as argument
When I used 'startx qtile' it started working!
Hmm, that seems odd. What happens if you just run `startx`?
