Dear members of this group, I have recently come across a message in CGP announcing the future realease of Quackle. As a passionate of this game, I was very excited to read such announcement.
I play Scrabble in spanish. For those who may not know, there's an International Federation of Scrabble in Spanish (FISE) and, on last november has taken place the IX World Championship of Scrabble in Spanish (http://www.fisescrabble.org/torneos/noveno_mundial.htm). My questions are regarding possible Quackle's multilingual features: It would be very useful to have the possibility of defining the alphabet of possible letters. For instance, when you play in Spanish, there are some special letters ("ll", "ch" and "rr") which in fact are composed of two letters (ch=c+h, ll=l+l, rr=r+r) but are considered as "atomic" letter when playing the game. In addition, we (players in spanish) have letters like "ñ" which does not belong to some reduced encodings so that using of some general encoding for the allowed alphabet (UTF-8, for instance) seems entirely advisable in order to set up multilanguage features. Have you thought about it? Have you considered adding Quackle with similar features? Another question I have is under which license are you planning to release Quackle. Finally, let me acknowledge your efforts and congratulate you by your initiative. Kind regards from Spain! Enric Hernández ------------------------ Yahoo!
