But 5 mid-game choices went 190/min? Was it with the slow endgame player?
If I'm not mistaken, Quackle doesn't have a slow endgame player yet, and it
would have nothing to do with a 2-ply sim anyway -- 2 ply means the program
is only looking ahead one move for each player.  It seems to slow down a
slightly greater percentage with each added choice, so the test case was
perhaps 5 or 6 times slower than the max output case, but even that is fast
enough for my purposes.  And the various nooks and crannies of a midgame
board create many more possible responses for opponent than are available
on a board with say no or one or two words on it.
 
Could I ask posters here to please sign their posts with a full name?  It
would be nice for us to know who we're all talking to, and be able to recognize
each other if we happen to meet at a tourney, even, and perhaps especially,
if that may not happen until a WSC.  ;-)    Thanks.
