It's being developed on MacOS X and Suse Linux (I think).

That's because you didn't install a C++ compiler. You can install that
from your Suse 10.0 CDs or DVD, and then try to compile Qt4 again. Look
for an RPM package called g++.

I have compiled Qt4 on my Fedora Core 5 system. All it takes is the
usual configure+make+install steps. Then you can build Quackle.

Most of the prerequisites for Quackle are available as packages on
Fedora Core 5. The only exception so far is Qt4, but as I said, it's a
doddle to compile.
