I've been using Quackle to analyze games from a recent tournament, and I'm analyzing one now where I had the opening play and had ADEINRT on my rack. Here's how Quackle rated its top four picks for opening play after I clicked on Generate Choices:
8F TRAINED 70 71.8503 8D DETRAIN 70 71.8121 8G DETRAIN 68 71.3635 8F ANTIRED 70 71.0897 I readily admit that I could be showing off my weaknesses as a 1498 rated Scrabble player by saying that I thought my play of 8F ANTIRED was the best choice out of the 3 70-point opening plays. All three of those plays would have placed an I next to a Double Letter square, and my reasoning was that the 70 point opening play that didn't generate an S hook at either end would be preferable. I realize that this post practically invites an opening-play critique that would be more appropriate for CGP, but my real intention is to find out what is the reasoning behind Quackle's valuation of these four opening plays. I'm particularly curious about why Quackle rates a 68 point 8G DETRAIN opening play as preferable to 8F ANTIRED. Dave Leonard Tiler8 on ISC and JumbleTime.com ------------------------ Yahoo!
