Here's a message I sent to the Australian mailing list the other day: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/ozscrabble/message/2182 This is a SOWPODS game so there may be quite a few non-TWL words on the final board. I think I picked a good move (which actually won me the game), but I understand the Quackle endgame feature is not yet fully operative in analysing the possibilities - this position may be a useful test case. A many-ply sim showed that a lot of the choices had rather high fake-win percentages - e.g. BULGE 8K 26%, NOULE O6 25%, BILGE 8K 23%, BOUGE 8K 17%, though these didn't necessarily match up with the spread figures. OLIVE showed up as a 14% shot, though with careful play my opponent should always win. I suspect the win percentages arise because Quackle has no concept of blocking out-bingos (or other opportunities such as BOSQUE) as yet. Additionally, the best-performing move equity-wise (OLIVE) was not selected by the kibitzer. It must be difficult for the program to realise that there is only one bingo lane, so with a deficit you need to open up another and hope things go your way (perhaps fixed by allowing a mini-sim on a wide range of candidate moves). It would be great if Quackle gave the facility to copy the sim results once they have been generated - I don't think you can highlight and paste them at the moment. Also would be nice if the candidate moves could be listed in order of win percentage once the sim had been conducted (perhaps as an option for the user).
