I think that keeping one's score on the same side of the sheet is superior to putting the player going first on the left (and the player going second on the right). In OTB scrabble there are fewer score keeping mistakes, when your score is always marked on either the left or right side of the score sheet. But there is a benefit even in online scrabble, where you don't have to mark your score yourself, and that benefit is that you save a few seconds of time because you never have to check to see which of the two columns is your score. The benefit to putting the player playing first on the left is negligible. One can always check to see who moved first if that ever becomes an issue.
Albert Hahn ps Does anyone know anything about the problem of Windows 98 not being able to place letters on the Quackle board after they are typed in? Any other solution but to upgrade Windows?
